Boone County asks residents to report storm damage to homes, neighborhoods

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Office of Emergency Management asked the public in a Thursday press release to report storm damage that occurred to their homes or neighborhoods.

Several inches of rain fell on Thursday, causing flooded roads and widespread damage.

“Recovery begins as soon as it's safe to do so. We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as damage assessments continue and services are restored,” said Chris Kelley, who is the director of the Boone County Office of Emergency Management.

According to the release, those needing additional assistance can:

• For sheltering needs, please call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767).
• For human services needs, contact United Way at 211 or 1-800-427-4626
• For non-urgent food assistance, contact Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services at 573-817-6430.
