More than 5,300 vote early in Boone County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

More than 5,300 people have voted early in the Aug. 4 election in Boone County as of 11 a.m. Friday.

Boone County Clerk Brianna Lennon told ABC 17 News in an email on Friday that more than 4,000 people have voted since no-excuse absentee voting opened on July 21.

Residents are able to vote early in the election by sending in a mailed-in absentee ballot or by voting in person. Lennon said more than 500 people have cast their ballots in the past two days.

Residents can vote in person at the Boone County Government Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.

The county will hold additional in-person voting events this weekend, the first of which being from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Southern Boone Public Library and Centralia Public Library. Voters can also cast their ballot from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Columbia/Boone County Health Department.

Lennon is expecting a 40% voter turnout.
