Morgan County was included in Gov. Mike Kehoe’s request for a federal disaster declaration on Wednesday.

Kehoe asked the federal government to approve a major disaster declaration to help nine counties that experienced flash flooding from July 9-11. Preliminary damage assessments indicate there could be an estimated $26.5 million in emergency response costs, the release says.

Bollinger, Crawford, Iron, Madison, Morgan, Reynolds, Ripley, Washington, and Wayne counties were included in the request.
