Tracking another cool Thursday, rain and storms return Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy and nice with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with evening rain possible. Highs near 80.

EXTENDED: Temperatures are about 10-15 degrees cooler today with dew points in the low 60s. It's been super nice and tomorrow is looking similar with morning temperatures in the lower 60s and highs around 80. We'll see more cloud coverage, and a chance for some showers by late evening. Friday will mark our best chance to see rain and a few storms, and while coverage will be area-wide, showers and storms will be more scattered. Rain and clouds keep temperatures in the 70s through the day, with the best rain chances shifting to the east and southeast in the evening. Severe weather isn't expected, but we could have some heavy downpours with any embedded thunderstorms on Friday. We'll be left hotter for the weekend as upper high pressure moves back in from the west, with a south wind pulling in more moisture from the Gulf by the end of the weekend, increasing the dew points yet again. As highs get to the low 90s, the heat index could get to near 105 between Sunday and Monday, so a Weather Alert Day will be in effect for dangerous heat.
