COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70, Troop F shared on its social media.

Troop F – which covers much of Mid-Missouri – wrote that the crash involved an intoxicated driver. The crash was reported on mile marker 119, which is between Columbia and the Cooper County line.

Boone County Joint Communications initially reported the crash at 5:14 p.m. and stated traffic was being diverted from westbound I-70 to Highway 40 because of a “lane blockage.”

Westbound traffic was backed up near the Stadium Boulevard exit, according to Missouri Department of Transportation cameras.

MoDOT wrote online that traffic is expected to be affected for about two hours.
