Tracking more hot air ahead of weekend rain chances

TODAY: Thursday is another ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day, and another hot and humid afternoon. Temperatures in the low 90s will feel like 98-103 degrees. Skies are sunny today, with partly cloudy skies developing by the afternoon. Spot showers may be possible, but it's unlikely.

TONGIHT: Another warm and muggy night is forecast. Lows are only cooling into the upper 70s overnight. Dewpoints will stay in the 70s.

EXTENDED: Friday is just as hot and humid, with similarly dry conditions. A spot storm will be possible, but most will stay dry. These spot storms are nothing to get excited over, but they are a sign of a weakening heat dome. We'll have greater storm chances on Saturday. Saturday is still expected to be hot, but showers and storms may kick off our Independence Day, with another chance for isolated storms in the afternoon and evening. We still expect plenty of dry time, but we'll need to watch the radar for Saturday night firework displays. This is highly dependent on the track of storms that develop Friday night in the northern plains, stay tuned as the forecast may change. Saturday night into Sunday morning will bring another chance of rain as an upper-level wave moves through. This will leave a stalled front across the region, where it may sit for a few days. This keeps daily low rain chances in the forecast through Wednesday. Temperatures remain warm, but may drop into the upper 80s, giving us a break from extreme heat by Sunday or Monday.
