Tracking dangerous heat with a few storm chances late week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm with lows in the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, hot, and breezy with highs in the low 90s. Heat index values between 100-105.

EXTENDED: Winds will pick up again tomorrow to about 20 mph, with similar conditions to this afternoon. Winds die down a bit for the end of the week, but upper level temperatures try to cool a bit, preventing the warm layer aloft from keeping a lid on afternoon pop up storms from developing. So while we'll keep heat and humidity, we'll have isolated chances for storms between Thursday and Saturday, primarily tied to the peak heating of the day and very sporadic in nature, meaning we won't see a severe threat and many end up staying dry. A slow moving front will try to stall out across the region between Sunday and Tuesday of next week, bringing a chance for a few storms and perhaps cooling us down a few degrees as the upper ridge breaks down, especially across the northern half of the area. The Weather Alert Day will continue through Saturday as we'll see daily heat index values between 100-103, potentially up to 105 in some spots.
