Tracking more hot days ahead

TODAY: Tuesday is another toasty day. High temperatures are forecast in the low-to-mid 90s, with dewpoints in the low-to-mid 70s. After starting warm and muggy, with morning temperatures and dewpoints in the 70s, we'll be right back to heat indexes in the 100-105 degree range.

TONIGHT: Very little relief is expected tonight, as we don't fall below 80 degrees until after midnight, and we start the day warm and muggy with lows in the 70s again on Wednesday.

EXTENDED: Tuesday through Friday are ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days, as heat indexes will be in the 100-110 degree range each day. If there's any consolation, it may be that it appears difficult for us to achieve the hot temperatures AND the high dewpoints we would need to get widespread 105-110 degree heat indexes. This doesn't mean that it's not possible on an isolated basis, but each afternoon as we warm, air will rise and possibly allow humidity to vent from the surface into the lower atmosphere. With that tidbit of good news, it looks like we stay hot, otherwise. This is, at least until rain chances can cool us. We'll have a chance for storms Friday and Saturday, but meaningful rain chances look to hold off until Sunday when a larger disturbance is forecast to travel through the plains as our heat dome breaks down.
