Tracking patchy fog to kick off the sunniest day this week

TODAY: Tuesday will be a milder day, as we're near 80 degrees this afternoon, compared to high temperatures in the 60s and 70s on Monday. This will also come with more sunshine, after some fog in the river valleys Tuesday morning. Humidity will remain low to moderate, with dew points just reaching the low 60s in some areas. We expect dry weather under sunny skies across most of Mid-Missouri, if not all of it. Where this may not hold is in the west near Sedalia and Highway 65 in general, around sunset. Storms in active flow tied to a low-pressure system across the northern plains will likely spread south through Kansas Tuesday afternoon and evening.

TONIGHT: A few remnant showers may reach our western communities overnight, along with more clouds. Temperatures remain in the 60s overnight thanks to insulating clouds and continued south winds.

EXTENDED: While we remain mostly dry overnight, the aforementioned low-pressure system continues to press our direction Wednesday, bringing rain through the morning ahead of, and ultimately along, a cold front. Rain is expected to be spotty in coverage, with the highest chance along and south of I-70. This front will likely stall near the region, with the upper-level jet stream sitting directly overhead Thursday through Friday. This brings chances for scattered to widespread rain and thunderstorms both days, with the best chance Thursday night into Friday. This stationary front starts to move again on Saturday, lifting north. As it does, it should leave us drier and warmer for the bulk of the weekend. Temperatures are forecast in the 90s, but they may feel like 100 degrees given forecast humidity.
