Tracking more sunshine and warmer temperatures Tuesday ahead of more rain

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy and cool with lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED:  We'll see cloudiness hold on for much of the evening, with temperatures falling to the upper 50s by daybreak Tuesday. We'll warm up more with more sunshine Tuesday as highs get back into the lower 80s. I'll be tracking an active pattern across the Plains  the next couple of days with storms developing late tomorrow night that could clip our area between Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing low chances for a few showers and storms. Low pressure moving into the region will bring a better shot at rain between Thursday and Saturday when we could see potentially multiple rounds as a front looks to settle right across the state. Thursday into Friday will bring the highest potential of widespread rain, with 1-2" possible. Lingering storms are possible on Saturday as well as the front tries to move to the north. With the front lifting north and high pressure settling in by the end of the weekend, it will be quite toasty between Sunday and Tuesday with highs reaching the low 90s, and the heat index potentially topping 100 degrees into next week as we close out June. Severe threats are tough to pin down at this point, but not completely off the table given the amount of moisture there will be in place, but intensity of storms will depend on the track and what time of day they move in. Localized flooding and potential damaging winds would be the top concerns if we do see anything severe toward the end of the week.
