Tracking two rounds of storms on Father’s Day, but a comfortable week ahead

TONIGHT: Clouds will start to build in ahead of an approaching storm system that will impact much of mid-Missouri for Father's Day. Expect winds to increase to 10-15 mph ahead of the front. Temperatures dropping to the mid 60s.

TOMORROW: Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day Sunday, with two rounds possible. An initial system builds in the overnight hours, tracking across the state throughout the early morning and into the afternoon hours. While impactful, severe threats remain low, though flooding will be a concern. A second round of storms looks to impact much of the region along and south of I-70 in the evening hours (4-6 pm), continuing until as late as midnight. This second system will compound the flooding risk, in addition to bringing a chance for all severe threats. Up to 3 inches of rain are expected in some areas.

EXTENDED: Once the rain clears out late Sunday night, we've got a beautiful week ahead of us. A passing cold front will help clear out moisture and keep temperatures from rising above the mid-80s this week. Lingering clouds from the active weather system look to stick around Monday afternoon, but will clear into the overnight leaving plenty of sunshine on Tuesday. A slight chance of rain does exist for Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday look to be dry and sunny with partly cloudy skies, and temperatures will continue to remain in the upper 70s to low 80s. Friday and Saturday look mostly dry, though a slight chance of rain is present both days. Nonetheless, there should still be a good amount of sunshine among warm, but comfortable temperatures.
