Tracking a few showers Tuesday, and a few strong storms Wednesday

TODAY: Tuesday is mild with a chance for showers. Temperatures and dew points are slightly higher than on Monday, ahead of a cold front that brings a chance for light showers to weak thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will range from a trace to a quarter of an inch. Rain should leave the southern region by late afternoon.

TONIGHT: The cold front that brings Tuesday's showers will stall across the south this evening, before lifting north again overnight as a warm front. Mostly dry weather is expected, but some showers are possible.

EXTENDED: Wednesday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. By daybreak, the warm front will lift well north of the region, leaving us dry and hot most of the day. Highs are expected in the upper 80s with enough humidity to make us feel like the 90s. A chance for severe storms returns along the cold front in the afternoon and evening. Cooler and drier weather is expected on Thursday, with highs in the 70s. 80s return Friday and Saturday, along with mostly dry weather, but storms return Saturday night and Sunday.
