Tracking a warm and humid day following morning rain and storms

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and muggy with highs in the lower 80s.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear with lows in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: Mid-Missouri continues to dry out for the rest of the day following morning storms, but moist air sticks around with dew points in the mid-upper 60s. As high pressure spins to our east/northeast, we'll see a nice shift in winds that will bring drier air to the region through late week, dropping dew points into the low to mid-50s. We'll be seasonably warm with highs in the lower 80s, but begin to warm up by late week as high pressure migrates to the east. We'll find ourselves in the storm path as the jet stream moves in our direction toward late week, with repeated chances of rain and storms between Friday and Sunday, totaling to about 1" of additional rainfall. We could see locally higher amounts in stronger storms, but the overall severe threat through the time frame looks lower as wind shear will be weak.
