Mizzou baseball drops regular season finale to No. 6 Texas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tigers fell in the final game of the 2026 regular season campaign, getting swept by No. 6 Texas 12-7.

Throughout the entire series, Mizzou was able to fight back in the closing stages of the game, and force a close result against another top ranked opponent. But in the end, head coach Kerrick Jackson and company could never come out on top of the Longhorns.

Mizzou opened the game on the attack, with freshman Blaize Ward homering in the top of the first to take the lead. Texas answered with a pair of runs in the second, before Pierre Seals followed suit, notching his fifth homer of the season to level the game at two.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Longhorns strung together six runs to jump to an 8-2, but the Tigers found their footing on the mound shortly after, posting zero's in the next three frames.

However, just like in the first two match ups, Mizzou came storming back in the final stages. Mateo Serna started a run at the top of the eighth with a two RBI double to get the deficit back to four. Tyler Macon brought in a fifth run for the Tigers, before Cam Patterson sliced a double through the left side of the infield with the bases loaded to make it an 8-7 ballgame.

But Texas rallied in the next half inning, responding with four runs of their own to extend that advantage, taking a 12-7 win in the final regular season game of the year.

Up Next - Mizzou will travel to Hoover, Alabama for the first round of the SEC tournament. They're set to take on the 15-ranked, and 9th seeded Ole Miss with first pitch slated for 9:30 a.m.
