COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou men's basketball coach Dennis Gates is putting the finishing touches on his 2026-27 roster.

On Tuesday, the leader of the Tigers landed his fifth commitment from the transfer portal in former South Dakota guard Jordan Crawford. The 6-foot-3, 178-pound talent will be playing for his fourth team as he enters his fifth year of college hoops, after a productive season with the Coyotes in 2025-26.

In his one season in Vermillion, Crawford was second on the team in scoring with 14.4 points per game, shooting a 41.4 percent clip from the field an 36.8 percent from 3-point range. He added to his stat line with an average of 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per outing.

Of course, Mizzou faced South Dakota in the 2025-26 campaign, as the Tigers came out with a 102-68 victory over the Coyotes. Despite the loss for his team, Crawford led the scoring charge with 18 points, along with a pair of steals.

The Charlotte, North Carolina native started his career at the College of Charleston, where he spent two seasons. He then transferred to Eastern Kentucky for a year, before landing at South Dakota, last season.

Crawford is one of five players to commit to Coach Gates out of the portal, this offseason. You can find a full list of those players below.

  • Guard Jordan Crawford (South Dakota)
  • Guard Kennard Davis Jr. (BYU)
  • Forward Bryson Tiller (Kansas)
  • Forward Jamier Jones (Providence)
  • Forward Jaylen Carey (Tennesee)

That group will come to Columbia at the same time as Mizzou's historic 2026 freshman class, which features five-star phenom Jason Crowe Jr.
