Mizzou baseball takes series win over Vanderbilt on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

In the final home contest of the season, the Tigers were able to take down Vanderbilt in game three 4-1, and secure the team's second SEC series win of the year.

The Commodores were the first team on the scoreboard in the finale, getting around home on a fielding error. From that point, Mizzou's defense was lights out, and managed to escape the inning having only allowed the single score.

They wasted no time responding on offense either. All of Mizzou's first three batters reached safely, bringing Mateo Serna to the plate with the bases loaded. The catcher then poked an outfield single past the second baseman to bring two Tigers home. Another run came across for the home side in the next at bat thanks to a fielders choice from Donovan Jordan

From there the defense remained solid throughout, holding Vandy to just three hits and no runs beyond that first frame. Mizzou picked up another run with Kam Durnin triple, and an RBI fielders choice from Blaize Ward to bring him home in the eighth.

Across the full nine innings, head coach Kerrick Jackson's squad didn't strike out once on its way to its first win over the Commodores since 2018.

Up Next - The Tigers will close out the regular season with a road series against No. 4 Texas. First pitch for game one is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m.
