Mizzou standout, Columbia native earns postseason All-SEC nod

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou first baseman Abby Hay received some well-deserved recognition for a flawless junior season.

On Friday, the Southeastern Conference announced that the Columbia native was selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team at first base, after she posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in her junior campaign. That's right, Hay committed zero errors in 57 starts in the 2026 season.

The Rock Bridge alum ranked third in the conference for putouts with 349 on the season and was first of all first basemen with zero errors. In total, Hay played a role in four double plays and recorded three assists in her time at first base, this season.

However, it's not the first time that the Tiger standout has earned some league recognition. Back in 2024, she was named to the All-SEC Second Team. Overall, Hay is the sixth Mizzou player to land on the SEC All-Defensive Team, but the first first baseman to ever make the list for the Tigers.

Hay also had a big year at the dish for MU, ending with a .333 batting average. She hit nine home runs, recorded 33 RBIs, nine doubles and posted an on-base percentage of .419 and a slugging percentage of .564.

Up next - Hay will prepare for her senior season with her hometown Tigers.
