Mizzou softball gears up for final week of the regular season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After picking up a pivotal win on the road against No. 6 Arkansas, head coach Larissa Anderson and company now have their eyes set on the final four games of the season.

The Tigers are just two wins away from finishing the season with a .500 wining percentage, which would put them in a position to qualify for a regional after the SEC tournament.

"Coming away with a win yesterday was much needed, especially being able to bounce back after those two losses," said coach Anderson. "Really proud of the pitching performance by Harrison yesterday. I mean, she just willed herself and gutted her way through and refused to come out of the game. She just dominated and kept a very, very powerful offense, off of the scoreboard."

Harrison made two appearances against the Razorbacks, and in more than nine total innings she limited one of the country's top offenses to just six hits and two earned runs on her watch.

"She was game ready at the start of the game," said Anderson. "So she was going to be available right away and she just was able to ride with it the rest of the game with the offense."

Sunday was also the team's best showing on the offensive side of the ball. Mizzou was held to just two runs across Friday and Saturday, but thanks to a three run shot from Sidney Forrester, the Tigers jumped to a lead and never gave it back.

"She's been so close. She's really been so close. But, I mean, that's the spark we need. She knows the power that she has. It's been a it's been a while since she's hit the ball out of the ballpark. So, you know, it's just going to build her confidence and carry that momentum in."

With just four games left on the schedule, the team is set to host Kansas City, before senior weekend against Tennessee could seal this team's postseason fate.

"Whatever happens at the end of the year, it's going to happen. But if we don't give forth our best effort and our intent, we're going to be disappointed. We're going to have regrets. So it's just making sure that we fight like we possibly can to give ourselves the best chance."

Up Next - Mizzou hosts the Roos in a midweek match up. First pitch for the game is currently slated for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.
