COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -

Police say a Columbia woman told them she fired her gun in the air when her ex-boyfriend drove toward her.

Boone County prosecutors charged Nakyia Johnson on Monday with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Johnson was arrested on Sunday after she allegedly shot at her ex on West Texas Avenue around noon that day.

A probable cause statement from Columbia police said they found the victim's Jeep with damage to the back window and frame. The victim allegedly told them he and Johnson got into an argument that afternoon before he tried to leave. That's when he said he saw Johnson in the road behind him, followed by the sound of two gunshots.

Johnson allegedly told police that the man was "taunting" her that morning by taking her gun from her purse and hitting her on the head with a stack of money. Johnson said the argument then went outside, where he allegedly took her phone and removed the magazine from her gun. When she got her magazine and gun back, Johnson reported to police that the man's car "move toward her," prompting her to fire a round into the air.

Johnson is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. Her initial court appearance is set for 1 p.m.
