Tracking warm and muggy air ahead of early week storm chances

TODAY: Monday is a mostly dry and warm day, with south winds driving temperatures into the 80s under a partly cloudy sky. Wind may gust as high as 35 mph with sustained winds from the south at 15-20 mph. These south winds will increase dew points into the 60s, meaning we may actually feel a heat index in the mid-to upper 80s. While we are mostly dry, an isolated weak storm cannot be ruled out on the nose of the southerly low-level winds that are bringing in this warm and humid air mass.

TONIGHT: Overnight, we'll stay very warm, as lows are only forecast in the 60s early Tuesday, if not low 70s.

EXTENDED: Tuesday will start dry, and most of the day will be dry with even warmer and more humid conditions. Heat indices are expected in the upper 80s on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday and Wednesday are ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days. Read the latest in our online blog. We expect storms on Tuesday evening, after a mostly dry day. These storms will have severe potential. Wednesday will be a little wetter, with better rain chances. Again, some storms may be strong to severe. Quieter weather is expected on Thursday, before another storm chance on Friday. The weekend looks mostly dry and mild after a shower chance Saturday morning.
