Tracking showers this afternoon and severe storm chances by Tuesday

TODAY: I'm tracking a dry start to the day, with scattered showers entering by the later morning and afternoon hours. Temperatures will start in the low 60s, warming into the mid-70s this afternoon as winds blow out of the south at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking dry conditions returning overnight as winds continue out of the south at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Temperatures will gradually drop into the mid-60s by the end of the night.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a warmer day to start the week as temperatures warm into the low 80s by Monday afternoon. Storm chances will be held to a minimum this day, but on Tuesday, a better chance for strong to severe storms will arrive during the afternoon and evening hours as temperatures once again warm into the mid-80s. On Wednesday, storms will linger throughout the morning hours, but another potential for strong to severe storms will be possible during the afternoon and evening as a cold front passes through the area. Due to these chances, an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday, temperatures will stay in the 80s each afternoon, and although severe weather isn't expected, chances for showers will continue. Another cold front will move into Central Missouri on Friday into Saturday, leading to continued precipitation and storms, as well as a slightly cooler start to the weekend.
