Weather Alert Day: Isolated strong storms tonight with hail and a few tornadoes

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day lasting through late Wednesday night as conditions are looking more favorable for a few weak tornadoes.

A warm front draped over the southern third of the state will act as a focus for storms to develop tonight, and potentially bring the threat of heavy rain into the overnight hours. Farther south, the environment features a bit more instability and enough wind shear for a few weak, spin-up tornadoes.

Storms will continue to be scattered in nature through late tonight, becoming more congealed after midnight as the severe threat drops.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for counties in yellow through 1:00 a.m., generally south of Highway 50, not including Jefferson City.
