PROVO, Utah (KMIZ)

The first year of the Kellie Harper era is officially a wrap.

On Monday night, Mizzou women's basketball's season ended with a 93-75 loss to BYU in the second round of the WBIT. With that, Coach Harper finished her debut campaign with a 17-17 overall mark, a 4-12 record in Southeastern Conference action and her first postseason win with a victory over Seton Hall in the first round of the WBIT, on Thursday.

The Tigers held it close with the Cougars in the opening minutes, tying up the game twice. However, after BYU guard Kambree Barber drained a 3-pointer to break up that second tie and take an 8-5 lead, the home team went on a tear. In fact, BYU finished the first quarter on a 20-2 scoring run.

With just seven points in on the board and about nine minutes and until halftime, Tiger guard Grace Slaughter finally broke up Mizzou's more than six-minute scoring drought. She was did her best to keep MU in it out in Provo, Utah, as she ended with 17 points on the night and a bit of history.

At the end of Monday's game, Slaughter had scored the fifth-most points in a single-season in program history, as she continues to work her way up the all-time scoring list. The Grain Valley native also scored into double-digits in every single game of her junior campaign.

Guard Chloe Sotell tied Slaughter for the team-high, tallying 17 points in the loss to BYU, as well. Shannon Dowell and Jayla Smith also got into double-figures, ending with 11 points apiece.

The top-seeded Cougars were just too much for the Tigers, overall, as they ended up with four players in double-figures.

Up next - Coach Harper will turn the page to the 2026-27 season, as she will enter her first full offseason as Mizzou's head coach.
