COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The man at the center of a late February officer-involved shooting was charged on Thursday.

Boone County prosecutors charged Keith Brodie with second-degree assault, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.

Boone County sheriff's deputies say Brodie was armed when he went to a residence at the 6200 block of Southwest Way on Feb. 20. Court documents show Brodie went to the home to speak with a woman.

Brodie is accused of breaking into the residence and stealing a purse. His probable cause statement said Brodie was looking for a motorcycle key.

Deputies say people inside the house tried to get Brodie to leave and that he got into his truck, pulled out a gun and fired a single shot at one of the people. The court document shows he then drove away from the residence.

Columbia police Chief Geoff Jones said on Feb. 28 that Brodie led Boone County authorities on a chase after the alleged shooting eight days earlier. Jones said a Columbia police officer shot at Brodie's truck after Brodie was driving toward police officers.

As of Friday morning, Brodie has not been arrested.
