Tracking a couple more days of mild conditions before winter-like weather returns

TODAY: I'm tracking mostly sunny conditions throughout the afternoon hours as northerly winds at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph continue. Temperatures can be expected to get into the upper 50s before sundown.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly clear sky conditions and southerly winds taking over at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph throughout the overnight hours. Temperatures by the end of the night can be expected to cool into the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a warm front lifting in on Saturday, pushing high temperatures into the 60s and low 70s. As this front lifts north, noticeable differences in temperatures will be present, with 50s possible near Macon, and 70s being a more realistic number near the Lake of the Ozarks. Sunday will start with thunderstorm chances in the late morning to afternoon, but by the evening, chances of snow arrive. Accumulating snow is looking more likely overnight into Monday morning, with a 50-60% chance of reaching up to 2" for areas along and north of I-70. Accumulations may be limited by warm ground temperatures, but it will still be a possibility. Gusty winds will be a factor during this period of time, with the potential for 20+ mph sustained winds and gusts of 40-45 mph. Cooler air arrives Sunday night, dropping lows into the teens Monday morning, only warming into the 20s by the afternoon hours. These dry but cold conditions will last into Tuesday before another warmup by the end of the week.
