Tracking a gradual warmup before a noticeable cooldown arrives

TODAY: I'm tracking sunny and mild weather as winds blow out of the south at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35-45 mph. This will help temperatures get into the mid-50s by the afternoon hours.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mild weather overnight as winds continue to blow out of the south at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35-45 mph. Temperatures will only drop into the low 40s by the end of the night as a mostly clear sky remains.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a mild start to the weekend as sunshine and highs near 60 are expected Friday, getting into the mid-60s Saturday. Warm air will continue to build in ahead of an area of low pressure that moves in on Sunday. Central Missouri will start the day in the 50s, but in the afternoon, temperatures will fall rather quickly. Temperatures will most likely fall into the low 40s by sunset. Before this, showers will arrive during the mid-day hours, and then transition to snow showers around sunset as temperatures drop. Snow may bring minor accumulations, but widespread impacts are not expected at this time. Cold air continues to move into the area through the start of next week, leading to high temperatures in the 30s on Monday, getting into the 40s by Tuesday.
