Wind advisory in effect for Central Missouri today

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the following counties in Central Missouri: Moniteau, Cole, Boone, Cooper, Callaway, Pettis, Montgomery, Audrain, Howard, Saline, Chariton, Randolph, Monroe, and Macon County. For areas north and west of Columbia, this wind advisory is already in effect. For areas in Columbia, south of Columbia, and east, this advisory will fully go into effect by 10 PM this evening. These conditions will come to an end for areas already under the advisory by 4 AM Friday, and then by 11 AM for areas where the advisory goes into effect at 10 PM tonight.

In these conditions, gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may occur. Winds this strong can make it difficult to drive, especially when operating a high-profile vehicle. When driving in these conditions, ensure you are taking extra caution, and if at home, secure any loose objects that may be blown away.
