Four home run day lifts Mizzou to sweep of UIC

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tigers extended their win streak to 12 games after completing a sweep of UIC.

After completing an 11 run comeback, and a shutout of the Flames on Saturday, Mizzou carried that momentum into game for of the series against the Flames.

In just the second at bat of the game, Jase Woita blasted his fourth home run of the season to bring in the first two runs of the day.

The home runs kept coming, as Kaden Peer crush a homer deep to right field in the bottom of the third. Just two pitches later, Cam Benson sent another one over the wall to make it a 4-0 ball game. But the run didn't stop there, as the very next pitch Pierre Seals made it a trio of long balls. The Tigers hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in just four pitches to extend their lead from two to five.

Woita picked up his third RBI of the game after hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, and the scoring would continue into the fifth. Mateo Serna and Chris Patterson would add a seventh and an eighth run, and Kam Durnin would get the lead to double digits with a two-RBI single.

The pitching was just as good as the offense, with Brady Kehlenbrink throwing six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and just three hits. Luke Fricker entered the game in the top of the seventh to hold the line and secure the team's sixth run rule victory of the year.

Up Next - Mizzou will face Southern Indiana back at Taylor Stadium on Tuesday, March 10. First pitch between the Tigers and the Screaming Eagles is set for 6 p.m.
