Tracking strong storms with wind and heavy rain tonight

TONIGHT: Isolated strong storms early, with widespread rain and storms overnight. Some storms could producing damaging winds late. Lows around 50.

TOMORROW: Temperatures remain chilly behind the cold front, only making the low 50s. Clouds slowly decrease through the day with strong winds up to 25 mph.

EXTENDED: Clouds and light showers have developed across Mid-Missouri late this afternoon, limiting the available instability a bit, but clearing out to our west across Kansas and Oklahoma could allow for another round of discrete storms to develop and move into western and southwest Missouri this evening. The window for scattered severe storms will be from about 6-10:00 p.m., with a line of storms moving in from the west thereafter into the overnight hours. The main concern with this line will be damaging winds up to 60-65 mph and heavy rain. Rain amounts could reach up to 0.5" tonight. We'll be chillier behind a front tomorrow as the cold front drops temperatures to about 50 degrees by daybreak Saturday with highs hovering right around that mark through the day. Sunday will be warmer and more sunny with highs approaching the upper 60s. Monday looks beautiful and much warmer than average as temperatures could get back into the mid-upper 70s. Tuesday will bring another cold front that will take advantage of energy provided by low pressure sliding by to our south. Severe weather is possible by afternoon and evening with that front exiting the area on Wednesday. We'll likely have some leftover showers through about midday Wednesday before things clear out. Rain amounts will be more significant, with 1-2" possible. We'll be cooler on Wednesday with highs only making the mid-upper 50s, with sunshine and a warm up back into the 60s by Thursday and Friday of next week.
