Mizzou women can’t complete comeback against Alabama in SEC Tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Despite mounting a late surge, the 14th-seeded Tigers couldn't complete a comeback against 11th-seeded Alabama, as they fall 65-48.
The first quarter saw both sides struggle shooting the ball, only scoring a combined 21 points. But in the second, the Crimson Tide strung together an 11-2 run to pull ahead to a 14 point lead. Mizzou closed that gap slightly before the half, but still trailed 31-20 at the break.
Out of the half, the Tigers were on fire. Head coach Kellie Harper's squad responded with their own 13-2 run to claw back and tie the game at 33. Alabama tried to answer back, but Mizzou hung with them, trailing by a single possession by the end of the thrid.
In the final 10 minutes, the Tide found their shooting once again, drilling three consecutive threes to get their advantage back to double figures. The lead continued to grow, and the Tigers could never get back into it, losing to Alabama 65-48.
Jordana Reisma and Grace Slaughter both put together impressive performances despite the loss. In what could be her final time in a Missouri uniform, Reisma put up 15 points on near perfect shooting while hauling in five rebounds. Slaughter added 11 points of her own, while grabbing 11 boards for a double-double in the defeat.
Up Next - Mizzou will wait to see if they receive a bid to the WNIT tournament. The selections are scheduled to be announced on Sunday, March 15.
