Tracking spring weather fully taking over with warmer weather and storms

TODAY: I'm tracking an overall break in activity from storms, but light showers and cloudy conditions still remain for much of the afternoon. Temperatures along and north of I-70 will only warm into the 40s and low 50s by the afternoon hours. Areas south of I-70, near the Lake of the Ozarks and the I-44 corridor, will be much warmer thanks to a warm front, getting into the 60s and even low 70s for some.

TONIGHT: The lull in activity will come to an end this evening as scattered showers and storms return, lasting throughout the overnight hours. There is a low risk (1/5) for these storms to produce hail, with these isolated stronger storms producing severe hailstones (1"+). Temperatures will gradually cool into the upper 40s by the end of the night.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking rain continuing throughout tomorrow morning as a warm front will be slowly moving into the area as a warm front moves in just south of I-70. This keeps areas along and north of I-70 a bit cooler, likely pushing a chance for severe storms just outside of mid-Missouri. Widespread showers and storms are expected through the morning to early evening on Wednesday, but Central Missouri will be on the cooler side of this system, meaning warmer air and stronger storms are more likely southeast of I-44. Thursday will be mostly dry and much warmer thanks to sunshine and southerly winds, potentially bringing temperatures up to near 70 by the afternoon hours. This southerly flow continues into Friday, placing all of mid-Missouri in the warm sector of our next approaching low-pressure system. This may bring a chance for morning showers and storms before a break in the afternoon hours as temperatures warm into the upper 70s. This break won't last long, as another potential for strong to severe storms arrives Friday evening, lasting into the overnight hours. This will linger into the start of Saturday before exiting during the afternoon, leaving dry and sunny weather to end the weekend.
