Tiger baseball sweeps series against North Dakota State

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou picked up a trio of wins in the first home weekend series of 2026, and extended their win streak to eight games.

After winning the first game against North Dakota State, the Tigers won both games of the double header on Saturday to complete the sweep of the Bison.

Game one started with Mizzou getting out to a 2-0 lead in the first thanks to a sacrifice fly from Blaize Ward. NDSU responded quickly, scoring three runs in the next four innings to pull in front.

In the bottom half of the fifth, the Tigers bats lit back up. Eric Maisonet brought in a run on a fielders choice, which was followed up by Chris Patterson bringing in two more on an outfield single. MU held that two run lead through the final four innings of the game, to pick up the first win of the day 5-3.

The Bison struck first in the second game of the double header, with a home run in the top of the third. But once again, head coach Kerrick Jackson's squad mounted a charge in the fourth. Jamal George and Cameron Benson brought in back-to-back runs on infield singles, and a third was walked in just a few batters later.

NDSU came back to retake the lead by one in the sixth, and would hold it until the bottom of the eighth, when Tyler Macon drove home the tying run on a single to right field. In the next at bat, Jase Woita gave Mizzou the lead with a two RBI base hit.

Ian Lohse came in to secure the last three outs on defense to get the save, and a third win on the weekend for the Tigers.

Up Next - Mizzou will take on Illinois-Chicago in a four game home series. First pitch for game one is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 5.
