Tracking a warm and dry trend into the weekend, before a cool-down Sunday
TODAY: Wednesday is another mild day, with highs expected in the 50s under mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will start warmer than Tuesday, so we won't need to be as windy to achieve this. In fact, behind a weak cold front we have weak north winds today.
TONIGHT: A chance for rain returns tonight, as scattered light showers pass through after midnight, and exit before daybreak. Trace precipitation amounts are expected.
EXTENDED: South to westerly winds return Thursday afternoon, along with mostly sunny skies. Highs reach mid-50s Thursday, but a more notable warm-up is in store for Friday. Highs will reach near 70° by Friday afternoon. This warm-up will continue into Saturday, when highs reach well into the 60s. This will be the warm sector of a strong upper-low across south-central Canada, whose very potent cold front will surge this way on Saturday, arriving by Sunday. Temperatures fall into the 20s on Sunday morning, only recovering to the 40s. As this cold front settles across the region, an upper-level disturbance will roll in along it, creating chances for precipitation on Sunday and Monday. With the cold front still nearby, both rain and snow remain possible, with some switch to freezing rain and/or sleet possible between the two. Details remain slim, but it's time to consider the potential for wintry weather in the forecast for the end of the weekend.
