Mizzou women’s basketball prepares for road showdown against No. 3 South Carolina
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
With just two games left in the season, Mizzou is tasked with one of the toughest schedules in the country.
After suffering a tough loss against No. 7 LSU, the Tigers prepare to face another top 10 opponent in the third ranked South Carolina Gamecocks. In Baton Rogue, Mizzou had a struggle against the size that the home side had, and will need to tackle a similar challenge in Thursday's match up.
"I do think that's a little bit of the issue with, you know, with an LSU and probably a South Carolina, for us, very post heavy dominant teams," said head coach Kellie Harper. "We just have to try to find ways to be tough and scrappy. And then hopefully be able to spread them out a little bit on the our offensive end."

Despite this stretch of games being one of the toughest in college basketball, coach Harper emphasized the importance of her team wanting to come back better after every game. That will to fight and competitive nature is what she turns to over these difficult stretches.
"I do think our team still enjoys playing and they enjoy each other. And, it's not always easy going through the SEC, especially what we've got down the stretch. But, hopefully they'll continue to have a positive outlook and we can continue to improve even even in our losses," she said.
Growth has been a major theme within this team throughout the season for Mizzou. Coach Harper and her staff have emphasized small victories and being able to take positives away from every situation. But along with that, they make sure they want to focus on the areas where they weren't as strong, so that they have something to work for in the next match.
"We can talk about growth. We can talk about where we have improved and what we need to continue to do to improve on the court. So I think that is good because it gives us some goals to really strive for, and I still think the honest conversations that we have with our players is really important. They need to hear the truth so can they can navigate that landscape of it," said Harper.
