Tracking a windy afternoon and a noticeable cooldown for the weekend
TODAY: I'm tracking sunshine returning throughout the afternoon hours as storms continue to move out of the area. Winds will be rather strong out of the southwest at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, helping temperatures warm into the upper 60s, but these same winds will also lead to a fire weather warning for much of the state until the evening hours.
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly clear night as temperatures quickly drop into the upper 20s by the end of the night. Winds will shift into the northwest at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph thanks to the passage of a cold front that moved through earlier today.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a mostly sunny but cooler Friday as temperatures only warm into the low 40s by the afternoon hours and winds blow out of the north at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Clouds will make a return by the evening hours with light showers to accompany them, which could transition into light flurries by Saturday morning. Little to no impacts are expected with this system as temperatures start in the upper 20s and warm into the low 40s by the afternoon hours as sunshine makes a return. Sunday will be even cooler, only warming into the upper 30s by the afternoon, even with persistent sunshine. Next week will start sunny and chilly, but another warmup is expected by the middle of the week.
