JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Public Works Department shut down a road Thursday for emergency repairs.

The West High Street viaduct is expected to be closed for emergency repairs through Saturday, according to a Public Works news release. The release came with photos showing a hole in the concrete deck of the viaduct.

Detour signs are in place.

Jefferson City has applied for a federal grant to replace the viaduct and add a connector bridge from River Market to Deborah Cooper Park. The project was put on hold last year because of increased cost estimates.
