Tracking higher fire danger and gusty winds Thursday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with lows in the mid-40s.

TOMORROW: Breezy and partly cloudy with highs in the mid-upper 60s.

EXTENDED: Fire weather conditions will be the main concern across Mid-Missouri on Thursday as a cold front passes through the region, with winds behind the front increasing to 30-40 mph. The cold front moves through Thursday morning, allowing temperatures to drop to the mid-40s by daybreak. Precipitation chances are low, but there is a possibility of a few pop up showers or rumbles through late morning. Any chance of severe storms will stay well to our east across Illinois and the Ohio Valley. Humidity levels will drop significantly throughout the day for portions of northeast, central and southeast Missouri. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon through 8:00 p.m. due to the combination of dry air and strong southwesterly winds. Avoid any burning due to the potential of rapid fire spread. The front will bring a surge of cooler air, dropping temperatures to the upper 20s by Friday morning with highs in the lower 40s. We'll be even cooler over the weekend with a low chance for snow showers as a disturbance slides by. Highs on Saturday struggle to get to 40 with lows falling into the low 20s by Sunday morning.
