Tracking mild and sunny weather before a rainy Valentine’s Day

TODAY: I'm tracking temperatures in the low 30s walking out the door this morning, quickly warming into the low 60s by the afternoon hours. This will be thanks to sunshine across the area and winds out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking increasing cloud cover throughout the overnight hours as temperatures drop back down into the low 40s. Winds will be out of the northwest at 3-6 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking widespread rainfall by sunrise tomorrow, on Valentine's Day, which is set to last throughout most of the day. Temperatures will only warm into the low 50s by the afternoon hours as winds shift into the southeast at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph. Rain will exit during the early morning hours of Sunday, with sunshine making a return by Sunday afternoon as temperatures warm into the upper 50s. A noticeable warmup is expected next week as temperatures get into the upper 60s on Monday, then into the low 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday. A late-week disturbance on Wednesday night into Thursday has a low potential to bring rainfall and rumbles of thunder.
