Tracking a beautiful Friday, widespread rain by Saturday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and beautiful with highs in the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: Mid-Missouri will see mild and dry weather through Friday before a low pressure system brings a significant chance of rain this weekend. High temperatures are expected to reach the low 60s on Friday, nearly 20 degrees above normal to close out the week as high pressure moves east. Low pressure sliding along the Arkansas-Missouri border will bring widespread rainfall to the region starting early Saturday, lasting through Saturday night. Rainfall amounts will add up to around 0.5" to 1.5", with the highest amounts across southern Missouri. The most substantial rainfall is likely to occur between Saturday afternoon and late Saturday night. Flooding is not expected, but there could be slower travel conditions with ponding on roads. Dry weather returns by Monday as a high pressure ridge builds from the west. Temperatures will likely climb to near 70 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday as south winds pick up. There will be the potential for elevated fire danger on Wednesday with strong winds, warm temperatures, and low relative humidity. Another cold front arrives between Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the possibility of a few showers or storms and a cool down back to the upper 50s to near 60 by Thursday.
