Tracking a mild end to the week, Valentine’s Day rain chances

THIS AFTERNOON: Mild and partly cloudy, with temperatures in the mid 50s.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly, with lows in the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: Sunnier skies on Friday will send temperatures into the 60s as high pressure moves to our east, making way for our weekend rain chances. Showers arrive at the Lake of the Ozarks and I-44 after sunrise, and rain moves north throughout the morning and afternoon. The track of Saturday's system may still change, but we're confident in rain across our southern counties, where 0.5-1.5" of rainfall is possible south of Hwy 50. Totals range between 0.25-0.75" near I-70, including Jefferson City and Columbia, with rain totals around 0.5" north of the interstate. Dry weather is likely on Sunday, with sunshine favored by the end of the weekend, and temperatures warming back to the upper 50s. Warmer weather settles in again next week with spring-like temperatures in the 60s, possibly 70s midweek.
