Tracking relief from the frigid air arriving this afternoon
TODAY: I'm tracking a cold start to the day as temperatures start in the single digits. Winds out of the southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph will first make it feel like it is below zero across much of Central Missouri, but these same winds will also help temperatures quickly warm into the low 30s by the afternoon hours. Clouds will be increasing throughout the day with a potential of brief flurries by the afternoon hours, but most will be staying dry, and anywhere that does see flurries will receive minimal impacts.
TONIGHT: I'm tracking clouds lingering overnight as winds continue to blow out of the southwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. This will keep temperatures from dropping too far past the upper teens by the end of the night.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a mix of clouds and sun throughout Monday as temperatures get even warmer, with afternoon high temperatures expected to be in the low 40s. It will be slightly cooler on Tuesday as a system moves through that brings cloud cover and mixed precipitation to the south, but most will be staying dry. Temperatures will start in the teens and warm into the low 30s on Wednesday as sunshine makes a return. Persistent sunshine throughout the rest of the week and southerly winds will lead to afternoon temperatures getting back into the mid to upper 40s Thursday-Saturday.
