Tracking heavier snow tonight, brutal cold continues

TONIGHT: Snow showers becoming heavy at times. New snow accumulation between 4-8" especially along and south of I-70. Lows falling to around 5 with wind chills around -5.

TOMORROW: Snow showers early, tapering off west to east by mid-late afternoon. Highs in the low teens.

EXTENDED: Snow showers begin to ramp up as more moisture streams in from the southwest tonight. Most of our accumulation with this storm will fall between midnight and noon Sunday, with snow tapering off by mid-late afternoon. Roads are expected to be slick if untreated through Sunday night as lows fall to about -5. It will be brutally cold on Monday morning as our ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day continues for wind chills falling to about -15 to -25 by daybreak. The rest of the week is colder than normal, exacerbated by the snow cover. Highs reach the 20s again on Tuesday, but we'll cool a bit by mid-week with another high pressure system settling to our north, keeping highs in the lower 20s and lows below 10 degrees. Little if any precipitation is expected between Sunday night and next Friday.
