Mizzou’s shooting struggles continue as Tigers fall to No. 18 Ole Miss

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Head coach Kellie Harper and company fell at the hands of No. 18 Ole Miss 82-61, the fifth loss to a ranked team so far this season.

The Tigers and Rebels traded shots back and fourth through the entire first quarter, with neither side leading by more than three. The second quarter offered more of the same through the first five minutes, but Ole Miss flexed its muscles stretching out to a 29-23 lead at the break.

Quarter three opened with three straight field goal makes from Mizzou to eliminate the Rebel lead. But the tie did not last long, as the visitors quickly reopened their lead, finishing the third on a 20-10 run. The lead only grew from there, thanks to Cotie McMahon's 24 point second half. The Ole Miss senior ended the day with 23 points, leading all scorers.

Grace Slaughter lead the Tigers in every major statistical category, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Shannon Dowell added 15 more, while Saniah Tyler had one of her best performances off of the year, notching nine points off the bench.

Up Next - The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 25, hosting the Texas A&M Aggies. Tip off from Mizzou Arena is scheduled for 5 p.m.
