Tiger hoops drop first conference game of the year to Ole Miss

Mizzou men's basketball falls to 2-1 after losing to the Rebels 76-69.

After a pair of impressive wins to open the conference slate, the Tigers suffered their first loss of the season to Ole Miss. Mizzou jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first two minutes of play, and extended it to 10 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half.

Ole Miss managed to claw back into the game and take a 37-36 lead heading into half time. In the second half, the two teams traded blows back and fourth, with six different lead changes in back 20 minutes alone. But poor free throw shooting caught the Tigers as they were just 12-24 from the line. Those missed points ended up costing them, as the Rebels took the win, 76-69.

Mark Mitchell had one of his best performances of the season, scoring 20 points with eight rebounds and seven assists. Jayden Stone also impressed with 16 points on 4-6 shooting with three threes.

Up Next - The Tigers return home to Mizzou Arena to host Auburn on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m.
