Rain exiting, slick spots possible tonight as colder air sets in
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and cold with lows in the upper teens. Wind chills in the single digits to around 10 degrees by daybreak. Slick spots possible, especially on bridges and elevated surfaces.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy and cold with highs in the mid-20s. Wind chills remaining in the teens.
EXTENDED: Much colder air sets in to Mid-Missouri as a cold front sweeps across the area tonight. Clouds hold, but lows fall into the teens area-wide, with strong winds gusting up to 25 mph. We'll see wind chills falling to about ten degrees by morning. Clouds largely stick around Sunday with temperatures only topping out in the mid-upper 20s. Another area of low pressure approaches on Monday, and with cold air locked in place, the only precipitation type we'll see is snow. Snow showers could start by afternoon, with a band of higher snowfall rates beginning by early evening near or north of I-70. Snowfall accumulation totals will likely be on the lower side, but given the timing the evening commute could be messy. As new data comes in, we'll be assessing the need for a Weather Alert Day. Cold air remains with highs in the upper 20s Tuesday before a brief warm up back above freezing on Wednesday. Lows Wednesday night drop back into the teens, bringing wind chills down into the low single digits in some spots as another front moves through with strong winds. Temperatures hover just below 40 to end the week with a low chance for rain showers on Friday.
