Tracking a chilly Thanksgiving weekend
TODAY: Wednesday is windy and cold. Highs are forecast near 40, with wind chills in the 20s and 30s most of the day. Winds are sustained around 15-25 mph, gusting to 30-40 from the northwest. Skies are partly cloudy early, trending towards sunshine this afternoon.
TONIGHT: Winds relax, few clouds move in. Temperatures fall into the 20s.
EXTENDED: Thanksgiving is cold, but less windy. A light northwest breeze again keeps us in the upper 30s and low 40s. Friday is dry, but Friday night brings a warm front. Ahead of the front, precipitation is likely around midnight onward into Saturday. This may fall as snow for some and rain for others. Either way, a transition to rain is looking likely into Saturday. How much accumulation if any at all before the switch is uncertain, but any accumulation will struggle to stick around long with warm grounds and rainfall. There is still some potential for snow through part of Saturday, especially in the north, so impactful accumulations are not off the table. More will become clear as the forecast is refined with time. We may have one quick dose of snow on the back side of the system Saturday night, before leaving us drier on Sunday. Stay tuned for updates!
