Tracking multiple rain chances this week
TODAY: Monday brings a chance for rain along a warm front this afternoon and evening. Showers and possibly a few weak thunderstorms will move in around 2 p.m. in the west, pass through Columbia around 4-5 p.m. before exiting in the northeast by 9 p.m. Rainfall amounts are light, with only a few hundredths to a tenth expected in most locations. High temperatures are forecast in the low 60s.
TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly cloudy overnight, with winds generally from the south. This sets us up for a warm start in the 50s on Tuesday.
EXTENDED: Tuesday is a dry day, but some clouds will linger in the northeast. Sunshine tries to work in from the south. High temperatures are warm ahead of a cold front passage. Highs may reach 70 before a northwest wind arrives in the afternoon. This will cool us into the 40s by Wednesday morning. Highs are in the 60s Wednesday through Friday, with more rain chances. We look mostly dry Wednesday, but late Wednesday evening into Thursday, another warm front brings widespread rain. This will likely continue on Friday with the attendant cold front sliding through. This drops highs into the 50s for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are forecast dry. Through the next 7 days, as much as 1-2 inches of rain is expected.
