Tracking a near-record warmup this weekend

THIS MORNING: Mild in the morning in the low 50s, warming quickly to the upper 60s before noon with mostly sunny skies.

TODAY: Sunny and warm, with highs in the upper 70s. Winds from the southwest could gust up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: The weekend ahead looks sunny, breezy, and much warmer than average, possibly hitting record highs on Friday and Saturday. Our forecast is in the upper 70s, with a record high of 78 in Columbia both days. Humidity will also be notably high for late fall, with dew points in the upper 50s. Despite this moisture, a cold front tracking through the region on Saturday night will be dry. Highs will drop back to the upper 50s and low 60s by Sunday, still several degrees warmer than average for mid-November.
