RECAP: No. 19 Mizzou looks regroup in its second bye week, following loss at Vanderbilt
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
As the No. 19 Mizzou football team is set to enter the back half of the 2025 season, the group is left with some questions to answer. That makes it the perfect time for the second bye week of the season, as the Tigers will get a week to regroup following a loss to Vanderbilt to drop to 6-2 on the year.
"We're probably not playing for the conference championship now with two losses," head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. "We're darn sure playing for the playoffs."
However, before charging head-first into the final four regular-season games of the campaign, Coach Drinkwitz and his team will need to work some things out: How long will quarterback Beau Pribula be out, after dislocating his ankle, on Saturday? What does tight end Brett Norfleet injury entail?
"I hurt for him, you know, I've been in that situation. It's not fun, you know, you never know when your last play could be," center Connor Tollison said, when asked about the injury to Pribula.
On Sunday, multiple reports, including from CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz, said that after getting an MRI, it was found that Pribula sustained a bad sprain and ligament damage. Zenitz said that the team doesn't expect MU's quarterback to need surgery, but they are not sure on the timetable for his return.
In the meantime, the Tigers will turn to true freshman quarterback Matt Zollers, who finished the game at Vanderbilt after Pribula's exit.
"The moment wasn't too big for him," Drinkwitz said.
"Matt's just, you know, fearlessness, courage. He's going to lay his life out, you know, for the team just like Beau did," Tollison said. "He's gonna have a bright future."
