COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou star Zion Young isn't just earning national attention for the energy he brought to the overtime coin flip versus Auburn, on Saturday. The defensive end also earned a nod from the conference, on Monday, as he was tabbed as the SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week.

That recognition came after Young registered five tackles, two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss in MU's double-overtime win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The latter of the sacks came in the first overtime period to stop a scoring attempt from Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold.

Young took over the game in overtime, overall. He not only registered that sack, but also had a tackle for loss.

The defense, as a whole, put a lot of pressure on Arnold and the Auburn offense. In total, Young and his unit amassed five sacks, nine tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in a big game for head coach Eli Drinkwitz's defensive front.

Up next - No. 15 Mizzou will look to keep the good times rolling in a trip to the Music City, on Saturday. The Tigers will kickoff against No. 10 Vanderbilt at FirstBank Stadium at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.
